Vanilla Ice Cream Monster Munch - Pop Art Painting on Canvas

£255.00

This canvas shows the real design of a packet of vanilla ice cream flavoured Monster Munch, a limited edition that was launched in 2004 and was received with mostly negative reaction. It was discontinued shortly after, consumers being probably unprepared for a sweet version of a snack which had always been savoury.

However I love Monster Munch and I've always loved the design of their packaging. So I created this painting to immortalise the glorious failure, but to also celebrate the amazing 'pop' style design and lettering.

This is part of a new series of paintings I completed in the summer of 2019 around the theme of discontinued foods, retro tech, and vintage design. A celebration of failed product launches, beautiful but outdated technology, and banned snacks, the paintings were originally completed for display at an art gallery in Hackney Wick.

The end result is a small canvas that would brighten up any room in the house. There's a picture of me stood next to the painting and another from the series included, to give you an idea of the size next to a person.

Size -
28cm x 35cm
11.2 x 13.7 inches

Roughly 1/2 inch or 1.5 cm thick

The painting is signed and dated on the back frame of the painting.

My style of painting and illustration is heavily influenced by classic pop art like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, modern day graphic design, kitsch, and everything from cartoons, animation, and food packaging.
