A while ago I posted a poll on my Instagram profile - should I do a full painting of the vacuum cleaner? 88% voted yes, with only one naysayer. So, here is the finished product, a pop art painting of an iconic Henry Hoover.
If you've never seen one, it's a small red vacuum cleaner made by Numatic International, with eyes, a smile, and the suction attachment in the place of the nose, and it's super popular in the UK. The first one appeared in 1980 and has gone on to spawn many other named vacuum cleaners of different colours and genders. I even used one during my first Saturday job as a teenager in the 90s.
I love presenting items in a simple, graphic style, opting for impact rather than realism. The object is here set against my often used sky blue background.

My work, as ever, has been inspired by the classic pop artists like And Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, as well as modern day graphic artists, and food packaging.
