I've always loved lava lamps and the kitsch retro-futurist style they're usually associated with, so I decided to paint my own pop art version. Some of the photos show the painting next to my own purple lava lamp inspiration. Elsewhere in my shop is a versions in a different style, done on paper. I thought it'd be fun to try the same subject matter in two different styles. The final picture shows the two lava lamp paintings side by side.
I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, and Patrick Caulfield, but also by modern graphic designers.
